PharmaSurgics is a world-leading biotechnology company. It develops and commercializes novel pharmaceutical-based treatments for the prevention of harmful scarring and promotion of wound healing after surgery.

The company has built up extensive knowledge regarding the effect of human-derived peptides during wound healing. Product development is based on the company’s proprietary synthetic peptides, which have strong anti-inflammatory and anti-infectious properties.

PharmaSurgics’ projects follow an efficient clinical development strategy in which the company works with strategic partners to complete late-stage clinical development. Licensing opportunities are also available relating to current adhesion control projects. Future development programs, applying the company’s technology and expertise in related areas such as topical wound healing, are also being explored.

PharmaSurgics was founded in 2005 after extensive research carried out by Professor Kjell Olmarker MD, PhD, and Dr. Inger Mattsby-Baltzer, PhD, at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden. The company is based in Gothenburg, where it has established comprehensive in vitro and in vivo facilities.
